I would like to join, I’m at 110 Erskine Avenue and my rent was increased by 2.2% this year! which is higher than the 2% allowed. Awaiting a response from Homestead head office re: what they increased it by, because they may have asked the gov’t for a higher increase. Also, my unit is already very cold at night and I plan to challenge them if it drops below 21C which is the minimum legal temp here in Toronto for apartments:

Please let me know how I can join the association. Thanks!

140 Erskine is the worst place to live- permanent construction zone- outside and inside the building. Fire drills will drive you crazy: if you have pets or young kids, you better be prepared to terrible noise in this building ! The superintendent/managers are totally unprofessional: rude, full of themselves and on top unable to solve or to answer to any, even small problem. Plus, as a bonus, I have seen cockroaches in the building !!

Homestead should not have their employees dealing with tenant complaints if it involves their family members. This obviously creates suspicion and biast opinions and nothing gets solved. It shouldnèt even be said but apparently they prefer to lie and create drama.

Although I live next-door in 160 Erskine, I wanted to ask about the annual $100 air-conditioner electricity money grab that just came around. Each year it comes in everyone’s mail slot, and each year, about a week or so later, the tenant association puts a countering-notice in everyone’s door outlining that this $100 AC grab is illegal.

We need this tenant association letter to be sent out for this season and I was wondering if someone is working on it?

Please let me know if the countering letter is coming, so that I don’t have to march down to the rental office and fork out $100.
It may be a cooler summer, and I may only have my AC on for a few hours a week – not $100 worth of hydro that’s for sure.

    Thanks, -Brian.

    Good morning!
I am the Chair of the newly created Tenants Association at 1257 Lakeshore Road East, in Mississauga. That’s the building that Homestead just purchased.

I would like to get intouch with someone from your Tenants Association. If that is possible, please have them email me at our Tenants Association email address, above.

While we don’t as yet have a web page, we will have one soon.

And, not, I’m NOT a representative of Homestead. I am, however, a pain in the neck to them.

Thanks. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Eva Robinson
    Chair, 1257 Lakewood Tenants Association
